About Nightfare
Nightfare is a top-down arcade driving game set in a city at night. You drive a cab. Fares wait at glowing rings on the curb: green ones want a short ride, amber a medium one and red ones want to go right across town. Stop inside a ring to pick a passenger up, follow the arrow, and stop inside the beam to drop them off.
The faster you deliver, the better the rating, the bigger the fare and the more seconds go back on the run clock. The shift ends when the clock runs out. While a passenger is on board, drifts, near misses and flat-out speed earn tips. A crash costs half of them.
How to play
- Drive: ↑/W gas, ↓/S brake and reverse, ←/→ or A/D steer.
- Drift: hold Space for the handbrake. The back steps out; steer into the slide to hold it.
- Boost: Shift or X. Style fills the boost meter around the speedometer.
- Pause: P. A gamepad works too: A drift, B boost, Start pause.
Scoring
- A fare pays by route distance, times 1.6 for an excellent delivery and 1.25 for a good one.
- Excellent adds 12 seconds to the clock, good 9, OK 5. Every pickup adds 3.
- Tips build a chain: keep the style coming within four seconds and each move pays up to five times more.
- If the passenger's patience runs out they get out, and you get nothing.
Tips
- Short fares keep the clock ticking over. Long fares pay more but cost more time.
- Learn the city. It's the same every time, and two streets are closed for good.
- Brake before the corner, drift through it. Hitting a wall in the middle of it is slower than braking.
- Save boost for the long straights.
FAQ
Is it free? Do I need an account? It's free, paid for by ads. No account: you only type a name if you want to post a score.
Does it work on a phone? It loads with touch pads, but it's built for a keyboard.
It looks flat on my computer. The 3D city needs WebGL 2. Without it the game falls back to a simpler top-down view and plays the same.
